10 Jay is a facade revitilization and residential conversion project for a historical 10 story building in the Dumbo Historic District. In this project, I modeled a parametric BIM model with simplified aluminum extrusion profiles at the early schematic design phase. At the shop drawing phase, I initiated a study model of a full mock-up to resolve potentail water infiltration issues at the transition from the curtain wall to the slab edge assembly and substrate.

The primary solution for the slab edge design included re-orientating the transfer spline at a critical joint location, placement of a galvanized metal plane for rigidity, and the addition of supports within the metal panel slab cover. This provided a continutiy of the air and water seal at the facade frame.
